Cymbals Eat Guitars: Lenses Alien

One of the most underrated bands in recent years released their second album over the summer. In August of 2011, Cymbals Eat Guitars put out Lenses Alien, the sophomore album to their debut Why There Are Mountains, which was received very well by the indie world. If you don’t have either album, do yourself a favor, and get them both! They will both take you on a ride through different emotions and experiences in a very loud manner. In short, its a passionate record with a whole lot of energy and musicianship. Below is a live video of the guys playing “Definite Darkness”, the lead single off of the record. Enjoy!

Sour: 日々の音色 (Hibi No Neiro)

Prepare yourself. This may be one of the cooler music videos you’ve ever seen. The European band Sour (their website claims France and Britain as their home) has made an awesome fan-based webcam video for their catchy hit “Hibi No Neiro”, which translates to “Tone of Everyday”. Garnering almost 4 Million views thus far, the video has been a large success and has helped to propel Sour into a larger, international realm of stardom. To date the band has released 3 albums and an EP, so if you like what you hear, go check out their other work! Enjoy!

So, to go along with The Head and the Heart video below, here is the Blue Scholars new video for Seijun Suzuki, off of Cinemetropolis. The video is hilarious… I mean, what more do you want than Sabzi with a cigarette and a samurai sword? Nothing.

The Mission Orange: The Local Scene Never Stops…..

Alright. Here is a short, sweet post about a SWEET local band that is oh so underrated: The Mission Orange. These guys have been in the local scene for a fair amount of time, forming about 4 years ago, and hail from the Mount Vernon area. The former two-piece band has recently picked up bassist Jesse Cohen, of the Oregon Donor (another sweeeeet local band), giving The Mission Orange an even fuller sound. Point is this, these guys are on the rise, and their combination of catch and musicianship will be sure to lead them to success in the near future. Find them on Bellingham’s Clickpop Records… Enjoy!

Stateless: Another Fabulous English Band

Hailing from West Yorkshire, England, Stateless formed back in 2003 and possess a sound that is sort of a Portishead/Radiohead mix. Originally signed to Sony Records, Stateless has since downsized to the indie label Ninja Tune with whom they released their second full-length album last February, titled Matilda. The band’s sound is catchy enough to immediately grab listeners, and it is unique and dreamy enough to sustain listeners for long periods of time… AKA it is music with some considerable depth to it. I’ll stop my aimless writing now and leave you with two tracks, the first, “Bloodstream” is the song that hooked me, and the video below for “Ariel” is a catchy tune with some pretty sweet visuals. Brian Warren: Anchors Away

Weatherbox’s Brian Warren is one of my favorite, and one of the most under-appreciated songwriters that I can think of. After Weatherbox released their latest EP, Follow the Rhythm of the Afghan Guitar, it seems that Warren kept on writing… leaving us with his wonderfully passionate and unique music as seen below. Also, Weatherbox is currently on tour throughout the US, so go catch them live… They’ll rip your face off. Ok. Enjoy.
